With more than two million fossil invertebrates (animals and not using a spinal twine), the Invertebrate Paleontology Collection provides a complete document of marine life by time. Present research focuses on the systematics, biostratigraphy, paleoecology and macroevolutionary patterns of Cambrian and Ordovician trilobites. The Bayet fossil assortment is likely one of the most scientifically beneficial collections in the historical past of the Carnegie Museum of Pure History.
Over 5,000 stratigraphic assemblage slides constitute a complete Gulf Coast Plain collection. The H. V. Howe Collection now comprises approximately 2,800 slides of major types and over 8,500 figured or identified specimens. About half of the invertebrate paleontology collections are mollusks (clams, snails, ammonoids and nautiloids) from the Cretaceous and Cenozoic of western North American and Pacific Rim.
