According to the elemental concept, genes and DNA direct all life processes by providing the data that specifies the development and functioning of organisms. The science referred to as molecular genetics is associated with a fundamental idea in accordance with which genes and DNA direct all primary life processes by offering the knowledge specifying the event and functioning of organisms.

This question is handled at additional length in section four of this article, but a fast reply suffices for current purposes: genes are linear sequences of nucleotides in DNA molecules. That’s, there is no such thing as a single, uniform, and unambiguous solution to divide a DNA molecule into totally different genes.

In both circumstances, the gene is the segment of DNA, break up or not, that determines the linear sequence in the molecule of curiosity. A mix of DNA segments that together represent an expressible unit, expression leading the formation of one or more specific practical gene merchandise that may result in both RNA molecules or polypeptides.
